How Do USPS Verify Canada Address?

The US Postal Service (USPS) verifies or authenticates almost all postal addresses in Canada. In order to verify a Canadian address you will need the USPS Verify Canada Address form. The form is easy to complete and only requires you to type in the street name, province or state, city, apartment number, full name, last name and possibly an email address. The verification process usually takes less than one minute and will result in a temporary verified code that can be used for online orders or on billing statements.

You must not use the USPS verify form if the address you want to verify is a mail forwarding address or a PO Box. If you wish to know whether a particular address is a recognized address or not, you may use the International Passenger Verification System (IPVSS) service instead. This system is managed by the Canadian immigration services and requires a paid membership fee. However, it offers more advanced features like verification of both the first and last names as well as other country-related information.

To apply for the free International Verification Card, you must contact your local USPS office. You can also visit the USPS website and download the application form. By completing and submitting the form, you will receive a temporary link which you can use to log into the USPS website. Once there you will be able to see the areas of Canada where the USPS will validate residential addresses.
